Tips to travel to Bhutan

Travel to Bhutan with licensed Tour operator through which you will be able to get the best of what you expect. Never always go for cheaper tariff as you may not be able to get the best of the facilities. Out of what you pay to the tour operator, USD 65 non negotiable goes to government royal daily. Whatever the remaining amount is spent for your hotel, meals, guide fees, transportation and other necessary fees. Therefore, think before you choose to go with those offering cheap tours to Bhutan.

Carry enough cash as Credit Card facilities is available only in some selected handicrafts.
Indians who are visiting to Bhutan should take note that Indian currency denomination of 500 and 1000 is not accepted. So do not carry those.
Bhutan is a mountainous and roads are narrow with unending curves. So carry necessary tablets should you have travelling sickness in the car.
Carry warm cloths if you are travelling to Bhutan in between September to March.
You are not allowed to take pictures when inside the temples and dzongs other than taking at the courtyard.
Smoking is prohibited and do not smoke in public place, bar, discotheque. Infact smoking is totally ban and you could face imprisonment of 3 years or more if you are found carrying tobacco products without valid custom duty reciept.
